Ride-Hailing Service Providers Ola and Uber Apply for Aggregator Licences in Maharashtra

Ride-hailing service providers Ola and Uber have applied for aggregator licenses in Maharashtra, according to a Regional Transport Office (RTO) official. This move is being taken in response to the sets of guidelines brought out by the Centre and the Maharashtra government, which mandate such app-based companies to obtain a license.

Currently, the government cannot efficiently take action in case of violations by these operators, and a license could change the situation.

Acting on a directive of the Supreme Court, Ola and Uber have applied for aggregator licenses at Mumbai's Tardeo RTO, which has jurisdiction over the entire island city. This license will enable the government to take action in case of any violations by the operators and will help maintain the safety of the passengers.

The companies are also required to meet certain conditions with regard to the fares they charge, the vehicles they use, and the drivers they hire.

The companies will have to provide proof of the training the drivers have undergone and the documents related to the vehicles they are using. The government will also have to ensure that the safety and security protocols are being followed by the operators and that the passengers are not being overcharged. The application process for the aggregator license has been made simpler, and the RTO official has said that the process is expected to be completed soon.

The aggregator license will help in regulating the operations of the ride-hailing service providers and ensure that the safety of the passengers is not compromised. It will also help to ensure that the drivers adhere to the rules and regulations laid down by the government.

Ola and Uber have taken the necessary steps to obtain aggregator licenses in Maharashtra. This move is expected to help in regulating the operations of the ride-hailing service providers and ensure that the safety of the passengers is not compromised.
